Last weeks match between Newcastle and Wasps, despite ending up as a draw was an excellent showcase of running rugby at times, and if one play stood out amongst the others, it was Elliot Daly.
Not content with being involved in one try, Daly scored one and was instrumental in the creating of another. A combination of pace, dazzling footwork and good awareness saw him easily scoop up the man of the match award.
Daly’s best moment came after Wasps had scored their first try through Rob Miller. Within a minute from the restart Daly found himself scoring in the corner having finished off a fantastic Wasps attack that started in their own 22!
Daly himself played at outside centre in the game and has been pipped for a possible outside chance of making the England squad. Daly himself was in fact the preferred pick to current England centre Jonathan Joseph and age-grade level. Daly’s speed and nous for an outside break could well be a welcome change to the current standard of direct, ‘boshing’ centres.
A future England starter in the making?
