The sheer force and expended energy of the loose-head’s hit on the Welsh winger was sure to have sent tremors reverberating around the earth’s surface.
It was during a Premiership match between Saints and Quins last season, North, as he typically does, looked to go on a barnstorming run but was stopped dead in his tracks by the unusually haired prop, Joe Marler.
Now, it’s not often that the gargantuan winger will be stopped so abruptly when he’s cantering at full pace, so Marler deserves credit for the timing and the power of the tackle.
