During half time in last Monday’s NRL clash between Brisbane and Penrith, a Panthers fan, Shunter, pictured above, suffered a nasty looking ankle injury in a half time fan event called the Big Ball Bash.
In the The Big Ball Bash a two person team of supporters sprint from each try line towards a giant inflatable ball in the middle of the pitch, with the objective of the game being to push the ball over the oppositions ‘stripe’
Not wanting to disappoint the onlookers, Shunter and another went hurtling towards the inflatable ball as quick as they could and, inevitably, ended up crashing into each other in the most haphazard fashion imaginable.
Shunter, from Faulconbridge, and the other man, as yet unidentified, suffered a broken ankle and shoulder, respectively.
