Usually, we wouldn’t condone a player pushing another one over advertising hoardings, but, given it was Chris Ashton, we may let this one slide.
During Saracens and Sales Premiership clash last month, Johnny Leota, the Samoan international, pushed Chris Ashton over the advertising hoardings, causing a massive melee between both players.
In Leota’s defence, the centre was trying to reclaim the ball from Ashton so that Sale could take their line and, technically, Ashton was violating the laws by not releasing the ball.
However, due to Leota’s push-which was hardly executed with much physical intent-the penalty was reversed and Saracens were offered the chance to clear their lines.
