Whether or not Currie RFC meant to do this or not, the end result is the most awesome way to win a game and, subsequently, seal yourselves a play off berth.
With Glasgow Hawks’ second row penalized for not rolling away, Currie were awarded an eminently kickable penalty in front of the posts. With the score at 10-10, what seemed a routine penalty would have won the game for Currie.
However, whether by accident or design, Currie’s kicker hit the ball off the upright, before regathering and spinning it wide, where the winger touched down to seal the game and, with it, a play off berth in Scotland’s BT Premier League.
