Gear Bag: Adidas Adizero RS7

The Adidas AdiZero RS7 is Adidas’ boot specially designed for outside backs. That means that if you are the kind of person that thinks that their hair is the most important thing about them, or enjoys to run sideways and backwards while doing little to no work at all, then listen up, because this one is for you.

Firstly, these are the favored boots of Andy Goode, I think thats job done there, after all, if there good enough for Goode, then who am I to argue.

These are pretty good looking boots. They are very simple, but elegant nonetheless, and the color schemes are pretty good as well. You can get them in the Adidas “Liquid Silver” collection, featuring (you guessed it) Silver, and Orange, or you can get white, with either silver or light blue. If you are looking for a bright, neon yellow, or purple, I would look elsewhere.

These boots are unbelievably light, and feature a 5mm heel wedge, which puts you in a better spot for sprinting. One of the key differences from the RS7’s football cousin, is that the RS7 features a reinforced sprintframe around the boot, which reduces risk of injury and means the boot is stronger, and more likely to last longer.

The boots also feature a layer of tiny rubber dots along the toe and mid section of the boot. These are designed to make kicking easier, as you are able to get a better strike on the ball. Couple this with the comfortable sprintframe, and these boots are well suited to any back, as they provide a comfortable fit, without sacrificing lightness, or kicking technology.

The spike layout is designed more for sprinting than for power, but slipping does not seem to be an issue, and these boots feel great for sprinting. The lightness and the frame play a big role in that, and it clearly shows that Adidas know what to do in order to make a high quality rugby boot.

These boots are probably the best outside back specific boot I have come across, and this shows. The idea that Adidas have designed a boot specifically for a specific rugby position is something that will definitely give them a leg up. These are vastly superior to wearing any football boot, and I highly recommend them if you are looking for a good pair of boots.
