A visit to the training ground of Japanese club Kobe has sparked rumours that Israel Folau may be the latest high profile Southern Hemisphere star to commit to a stint in Japanese Rugby.
During a Waratah’s bye week, Folau surprised both Kobe’s players and staff by inadvertently visiting their training ground. Should Folau, formerly a Rugby League player, join Kobe he will meet some familiar faces as Kobes squad has two former NRL players, Craig Wing and Fraser Anderson.
The ARU(Australian Rugby Union) will do all it can to prevent Folau and their other stars from leaving, and have drafted a new ”flexible contract” resolution which will offer their ”marquee” players an opportunity to take a temporary overseas sabbatical, provided they commit their long term future to the ARU.
