Confirmation that the Cardiff Blues are looking to strike a long-term new lease agreement with commercial development options with its landlord Cardiff Athletic Club has sparked rumours that the club may be looking towards the construction of a new stadium or the refurbishment of their current home.
The Blues have already held tentative discussions with the Cardiff Athletic Club, the owners of the freehold interest of BT Cardiff Arms Park, regarding the signing of an one hundred year lease.
Potentially, the club could look to construct a 15,000 seat stadium with the cost offset by the sale and lease of commerical and residential properties in close proximity to the proposed stadium.
In order for the stadium to host other events, sporting and otherwise, there is the possiblity of a retractable roof becoming part of the new design, which would include underground parking.
