NRL Auckland 9s Fallout

Sandow-Nines

This weekend saw the NRL Auckland 9s take place in Sunny Auckland, New Zealand. South Sydney Rabbitohs took the trophy home after an impressive display in the final vs the Cronulla Sharks, winning 18-14 in extra time. But, as it is with any rugby tournament, there is a lengthy injury list, including two ACL tears… ouch.

Parramatta Eels:

Kaysa Pritchard (pec): has torn his pectoral muscle and will have surgery.

Brad Takairangi (ankle): hurt an ankle on day one and didn’t return for day two. Expected to be okay for round one.

Kenny Edwards (knee): has unfortunately torn his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee – will have surgery.

Chris Sandow (ankle): hobbled off the field late in the semi final against the Rabbitohs – expected to be okay for round one.

Gold Coast Titans

Aidan Sezer (eye): copped a knock and wasn’t able to take the field on Sunday – will have scans.

David Mead (ankle): minor sprain on day one.

Lachlan Burr (ankle): like Mead, suffered a minor sprain on day one.

James Roberts (shoulder): had some soreness but isn’t expected to miss any game time.

 

Newcastle Knights

Carlos Tuimavave (ankle): limped off the field in the Knights’ pool game loss to the Eels – will have scans.

Joseph Tapine (cork): copped a knock against Manly, didn’t play in the quarter final.

Jarrod Mullen (head): copped a knock but is okay.

Sione Mata’utia (ankle): picked up a suspected syndesmosis injury in the Knights’ Sunday morning pool match against Manly – could miss the opening rounds of the season.

Jake Mamo (cork): suffered a minor knock in the quarter final against the Rabbitohs.

Cronulla Sharks

Nu Brown (knee): unfortunately Brown suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the semi final against the Roosters and will have surgery.

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Adam Reynolds (hamstring): limped off late in the final, was heavily iced. Expected to play Charity Shield.

George Burgess (heel): suffered some bruising, but expected to play in Charity Shield.

Aaron Gray (groin): club says it’s nothing serious and he’ll be right to go in the next week.
