With so much weight being put behind the sharing of photographs and videos these days, it is perhaps no surprise that the photo-sharing madness has now reached the Rugby pitch. Created by BWIN, Your Nations is a social media project that chronicles photographs and memories of rugby fans in the form of fan photographs, which are then viewable after each Six Nations match.

Pulling through the excitement (or furore) of the games, the platform offers a real-time view of Twitter ‘possession’ as fans get behind each of their individual teams. Released only a couple of weeks ago, Your Nations has chronicled hundreds of fan images from each of the fixtures so far, but with a big push over the next coming week, it is expected that sharing will reach tens of thousands by the next round; with teams and stadiums ‘competing’ against each other for shares. By allowing users to browse the matches via the stadiums or fixtures, fans are able to view the fan gallery during the pre-match excitement, during the fixture itself and of course, afterwards – when people have time on their hands to muse on the action.

What’s more, users are able to view real-time stats of the Twitter ‘possession’, as fans get behind their teams using hashtags during the games. Taking a look at Saturday’s Ireland vs England game, we are able to see that unlike on the pitch, England trounced their Irish cousins with a 55% to 45% possession in Twitter mentions.
